Save the environment
Reduce environmental impact

At Lexmark we take our environmental obligations very seriously, and our 'Print Less, Save More' campaign is integral to that strategy. With a strong track record in environmental management and responsible consumables management, we want to help customers take advantage of effective printing solutions, while actually printing less and cutting down on waste.
We are the only dedicated printer vendor that has an output strategy which focuses on printing less not more. The impact of printing on the environment is greatest at the usage stage, and we feel an obligation to educate users on how they can contribute to reducing paper.
Our research shows that over 80%1 of the impact on the carbon footprint comes from the use of paper - it takes 60 times more energy to produce one sheet of paper than it takes to print on it. What is even more shocking is that one in five pages is then thrown away unread2!.
Managed Print Service
Cutting down on the use of paper is therefore key to the 'Print Less, Save More' message. Lexmark works with a number of major corporations via its Managed Print Service. One of those companies is leading electrical retailer Dixons, (DSGi), who have saved an estimated four million sheets of paper and reduced its carbon footprint through its managed print service with Lexmark and environmental initiatives since the implementation in July 2006.
The retailer has also saved approximately 93 tonnes of CO2 emissions utilising Lexmark's eco-designed, energy efficient products such as the power save mode, which reduces the energy a printer uses after 15 minutes on standby. The quantity of toner used was cut by an estimated 2,500 cartridges per year and the company also signed up to Lexmark's Cartridge Collection Programme (LCCP). Our collection programme is free to our customers and designed for ease of use.
Lexmark's environmental commitment
Our solid commitment to protecting the environment is not just long-established but also widely recognised and acclaimed. Last year we were short listed for the European Green IT awards, which recognise the companies and individuals that have demonstrated innovation and drive in Green IT.
Lexmark has a printer lifecycle assessment approach which tracks the highest impact on the environment at each phase - manufacturing, design, usage and end of life. The aim is to constantly strive to reduce energy consumption, lower emissions and produce less waste at every stage.
Educating customers on best practice (particularly within the usage phase) and the creation of eco-friendly features such as Eco and Quiet modes (to optimise energy consumption and reduce noise) and automatic de-fault to duplex printing (to minimise paper consumption) plays a critical role within the usage phase.
All of Lexmark's manufacturing sites are OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 certified and Lexmark was also a founding member of the well established ENERGY STAR specifications.
This is why LEXMARK encourages you to PRINT LESS!
At Lexmark, we are determined to lead the industry by helping our customers use our products more effectively.
More than two-thirds of a laser printer's environmental impact is generated during the use phase - and most of that is caused by the paper!
Eliminating unnecessary output is a priority in terms of reducing business costs and environmental impact.
Whatever your business, Lexmark provides you with FREE & EASY cartridge collection and recycling.
As a leading provider of printing solutions, we are committed to zero waste to landfill - So you can be too!
100% of our collected printers and cartridges are reused and recycled. Over 90% of a cartridge's weight and 99% of a printer's components are re-used as new materials for other industries.
We help to give your products a new lease of life.
Print less. Save more. Save the environment
